EFTPOS down Melbourne
"Online and telephone banking services are currently unavailable, " St George posted to its website on Monday. "Customers can continue to obtain funds through the ATM and EFTRevel pos documentation, manuals as well as use their credit card."
The message that greeted customers on Monday afternoon. It's unclear exactly when the outage began, but one St George customer told Fairfax Media she had been unable to access her funds since 1pm Monday. Another said they couldn't access their funds at 10.30 am AEDT.
At 4pm AEDT Monday the outage was still ongoing.
And although St George said money could still be accessed via ATMs, some customers disputed this.
"No money from ATMs, branches or by EFTPOS since about 1pm today, " a customer told Fairfax Media.
On its Facebook page, St George said the issue had "arisen following a regular upgrade to the bank's computer systems over the weekend".
"We can now confirm we have identified the problem and are in the process of restoring our services. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience experienced."
Customers inundated the Facebook pages for each bank on Monday, complaining about the outage.
"Here we go again time to change banks, " wrote Tracey Winchester on the St George's Facebook page.
"Sorry St. George, but given the insincerity of your apologies, I do not accept it. I will be closing my accounts ASAP, and encourage others to do so also, " wrote another, Garry MacDonald.
