Ingenico terminal support
First Data (NYSE: FDC), a global leader in commerce-enabling technology and solutions, and Ingenico Group (Euronext: FR - ING), the global leader in seamless payment, today announced that First Data is now offering a new payment acceptance solution leveraging Ingenico Group’s smart terminals that supports EMV tip adjust and Common AID. First Data has Class B+ certified this new solution on its Omaha Platform.
First Data’s Omaha application will run on select versions of Ingenico Group’s smart terminals, including the iCT, iWL and iPP product lines. The combined First Data and Ingenico Group offering enables independent sales organizations (ISOs), agents and integrated software vendors (ISVs) to offer merchants an easy-to-implement, secure payments solution that accepts magstripe, EMV and NFC contactless payments, while providing support for EMV tip adjust and Common AID.
With EMV tip adjust, restaurants are able to continue to settle credit card payments the same way they would with magstripe cards – by adding the tip after the initial card authorization. This is becoming increasingly important for merchants who have not yet switched to Pay-at-the-Table solutions to accept EMV chip cards, where the customer would enter the tip directly into the terminal. Additionally, by providing support for Common AID, merchants are now able to accept EMV debit transactions. Without Common AID, EMV debit transactions process as signature-based transactions, which can significantly impact interchange costs.
