QuickBooks 2012 backup file Extension
- If you still have the previous version of FAM (the version you are converting from) on your system, please do the following:
- Open your prior version of FAM, go to Tools, then select Program Options.Under the General Tab, click to remove the checkmark from the automatically compress clients checkbox.Click OK to close the Program Options window.
- Using the compression utility extract the files back into the same client folder (Example: {0000301).After the files have been extracted you can delete the compressed file containing the "!"
You should be left with a set of Files that look similar to the pic below.
Step 2: Copy the FAM client folder: Locate the correct FAM client folder and copy to correct year.
- If going from QuickBooks 2016 to QuickBooks 2015, you will look in FAM 12 folder and move the client to the FAM 14 folder. FAM is always one year earlier.
Step 3: Renaming Files: Now that you have to the full set of FAM client files, you will have to rename the file extensions to match the newer version of FAM. In some cases the newer version of FAM will already have a client designated with that number. In those cases, you will have to rename the client folder and files to a new number.
Check to see if there is already a FAM client in the new version that already has the same number. If there is it will have to be renamed
